About Module 5: French, English, and Southern Landscapes
Module progress
In New Orleans and the surrounding areas of Louisiana/Mississippi the milieu of French, English, and Southern Landscapes is what defines the cultural landscape of the regions. There are also, of course, Native American, African, and Hispanic influences as well, which we will also read about this week. I am assuming that many students in this class are from this region, so these information from these chapters will be of particular interest to you for the Cultural Landscape Project.
Module 5 Learning Objectives
By the end of this module you will be able to:
- Explain how the French have influenced cultural landscapes in North America
- Identify what Americanizing English landscapes are
- Evaluate the lasting social and cultural legacy of Southern plantation landscapes
